The majority of orthodontic schools focus solely on cosmetics and do not teach the principles of chewing system function and how to recognize and treat chewing dysfunction - so the majority of orthodontists only function on the "beauty" aspect. Dovorany Orthodontics does not.

I have taken special, post-graduate courses focused on understanding a person's chewing system, the relationship between the teeth and jaw joints, and identifying potential problems. Why? Because if your chewing system doesn't function properly, you can suffer from other oral and overall health problems.

Your chewing system consists of the teeth, two temporomandibular joints and the muscles surrounding the teeth and joints. Your teeth may look straight, but if they are improperly positioned, they can interfere with chewing. This can lead improper wear and tear on your teeth, tissues and muscles.

We examine each patient's facial joint health and integrity — we treat patients for function as well as cosmetics. The result? A smile that is equally beautiful and healthy.
